What is my cat trying to tell me?

If you don’t listen to your body, your cat will help you shift! In this blog I’ll share with you just how amazing your cat(s) can be at helping you to shift your energy and emotions so you can understand what your cat is trying to tell you.

Are you listening?

I had 3 instances of long-term sick in my corporate job. 4-6 months off work because my body wasn’t working properly. RSI in my wrist, then issues with my rotator cuff finally leading to not being able to lift a kettle part filled with water!

And still I didn’t listen. Eventually I leant into surrender. All thanks to my cats, first Pickle, my baby girl, my love and then Leo.

As many of you know Pickle was very poorly for a number of years and in an attempt to help her I was led to, and trained in, a variety of complementary treatments. Bringing it all together to create Naturally Cats to provide holistic help for cats and their guardians. Giving to others what I had wanted for her all those years as we went to and fro the vet. Our journey together helped me to create a business that is changing the worlds perception of cats.

Sickness, surrender and stepping up my game

After doing Naturally Cats as a ‘side hustle’ for a number of years alongside my corporate job I had another instance of long-term sick from work. Sat in front of the Doctor and he said to me ‘what do you want?’ I thought he meant about having a sick note for work, but my soul heard something different. By this point Pickle was no longer with me in physical form, having been put to sleep 6 months earlier. I felt lost, adrift and not really knowing what on earth to do with myself. My body giving up on me again was the last straw.

Long story short – Leo came home with me and my life was turned upside down…again.

Within 3 months of having him he was coughing all the time, hiding away from me and helped me to question everything I knew about cats. He was literally the opposite of Pickle. So I had a choice.

Let my body rule me and continue with health concerns, issues and limitations. Keep trying to work with a cat using the old ways that I knew.

Or surrender – with both.

And that’s what I did. I wasn’t getting the message from my body (despite how loud it was shouting at me!) It took my cat to help me jump off the cliff, quit my corporate job and turn everything I knew about cats on its head.

Body and balance

Over the last 5 years since having Leo (and the last couple with Baby Max as well) I have been able to see the correlation with my body and their behaviour. Bear with me as I explain what I mean!

If I don’t create the space to honour, nurture and support my body my boys will find a way to help me. If I haven’t meditated for a few days they will start to be more aggressive with each other – which leads me to feeling angrier and then finally I decide to meditate to calm my head and thoughts.

If I push my body because I’m not acknowledging my emotions or ignoring my thoughts I end up eating white carbs, sugary sweets and junk food – Baby Max goes off his raw food.

And when I put others needs before my own, spending too much time with others or over-giving and not sticking to my boundaries Leo becomes really withdrawn and retreats from me.

We are all connected

Being a cat guardian isn’t about putting your cats needs before your own. It isn’t about sacrificing yourself for others. And it certainly isn’t about ignoring what you need in order to thrive so your cat can have what it needs. We are all so deeply connected that when you honour yourself, you honour your cat. When you show yourself love, your cat will feel it and reflect it back to you.

So my love, if you take anything away from this blog know that you are worthy of looking after yourself. You do matter. And if you don’t honour and nurture your body, start listening to what it is sharing with you – your cat will help you to shift whether you are ready or not!

They are truly magical beings and can be our greatest teachers if we open ourselves up to their magic and wisdom.

I hope you have enjoyed the blog, feel free to get in touch and share with me what you are going to do to nurture yourself. I love to hear from the naturally cats community.

With love,
